Developing: Fight Brewing Between Retailers and Manufacturer

Furniture Tomorrow has learned that a small group of retailers has retained counsel to bring a class action lawsuit against a furniture manufacturer whose name has yet to be revealed to the general public. The dispute stems from floor samples that were distributed to the retailers at no charge. Subsequent chargebacks sent to the manufacturer were denied and the retailers went through the roof. "It's unacceptable that our chargebacks were denied", one retailer noted. "We received the product into our warehouse, unboxed it, set it up on our floor and dusted it off. The manufacturer is reponsible to share in these costs. After we convinced the manufacturer that we weren't playing a practical joke on them, they told us our chargebacks wouldn't be processed."

We contacted the manufacturer for comment and received a mixed response. "We gave them the product for free", the VP of sales said between fits of laughter. "If they think they can charge us back for "shop-time", they are crazier than we thought they were."

We'll keep you up to date.....
