Breaking News: Retailer To Spin Wheel To Decide When Fall Market Starts

HIGH POINT -

We've just received word that the IHFC board will announce an exciting promotion to kick off the market. As part of the promotion, one retailer will be chosen randomly and will spin a wheel to determine when the Fall Market will start. Brian Casey, president of the High Point Market Authority, expressed his excitement over the promotion. "We may not have the casinos or hotels or entertainment or restaurants or attractions or cabs or a lot of other things that Las Vegas has, but we feel like we can keep this market exciting by ensuring that no one really knows when the show is going to start. By changing the dates every six months, we think we're accomplishing that." Manufacturers were also enthusiastic about the idea. "We're behind the IHFC 100%", said Alex Bernhardt, CEO of Bernhardt Furniture Company. "Once we know when the market opens in October we'll start planning and our showroom will be open 3 days before that."

We'll keep you up to date as more information becomes available.

  1. Hey, what difference does it make when the market "opens" anyways? Whatever the date, some places will be open days earlier. I think it would be best if NO opening date was announced. Let the chips fall where they may.

  3. I think it's exciting to not know the dates. Of course a press release on the chosen random retailer spining a wheel will be very exciting. Perhaps we could hold a drawing lotto as well and as manufacturers we could guess how many people may attend. As for myself I am going to rent booth space a crystal ball and a wizard hat and sell forecasts for $20 next to the martini bars for next market. This will definately off set the cost of continued markdowns of first quality inventory.
