Universal: Licensed Collection with Gordon Ramsey Ended Abruptly

Furniture Tomorrow has learned that Universal Furniture's collaboration with celebrity chef Paula Deen was initiated at the last minute after a collaboration with celebrity chef Gordon Ramsey abruptly ended. A Universal marketing executive who spoke on a condition of anonymity because she was not authorized to speak on behalf of the company said Universal was working with Gordon Ramsey for nearly 3 months and had most of the 50 piece collection finalized. According to sources, Mr. Ramsey, known for his vulgar outbursts, notified Universal executives that he would not "put his fu***** name on this fu***** worthless piece of fu***** imported sh**. Universal Furniture had no comment regarding Mr. Ramsey's statements.

Furniture Tomorrow has learned that Mr. Ramsey was upset regarding the overall quality of the materials being used and the collection's finish. Mr. Ramsey declined our interview request but responded by saying, "You think I would serve f****** sh** like that in my kitchen-High Point is the biggest piece of sh** with the worst rubbish fu******* restaurants and I hope I never set foot here again in my whole f******* life.

Universal executives contacted Paula Deen in early March. Deen will be in the company's High Point showroom this April serving cinnamon roll milk shakes and presenting the Paula Deen Home collection.
